January 8, 2012 "Stewardship" Pastor Hylyard Irvin
Pastor Irvin spoke about ownership. He explained that owners have pride in what they have and how they got what they have. Stewards know that they are transient and they own nothing. They are just caring for the things that they manage. Who owns everything that you have? How much of what you have is God's and how much is yours?
Your health, families and time all belong to God as he can take them at any time. How do we face adversity such as when our health, families or time are taken from us.
The Good Samaritan overcame his prejudices and schedule to stop and care for a person who had been beaten. Are you too busy to help someone in need? Your attitude is more important than your ability. Your attitude is more important than your position. Your attitude is more important than the timing of the problem. God needs people who are available.
This week: think of someone that you know that needs help. Give them a word of encouragement, send them a card or call them. Help them up, don't leave them to lay by the side of the road.
Bible Verses: Luke 10:25-37
